The custom of tiered cakes came from a game where the bride and groom attempted to kiss over an ever-higher cake without knocking it over.

The tallest wedding cake in the world is 17 feet in height – made for the New England Bridal Showcase in February 2004. It weighted 15,000 pounds!

Lets assume they did not try to kiss over this cake.
